• Taking Steps to Better Health - Poster

This Steps to Better Health poster provides knowledge and guidance for healthier mental and physical wellbeing. Ideal for communal areas such as staff rooms, waiting rooms or open plan office spaces.

This poster states:

TAKE THE STAIRS: Climbing stairs regularly can help build and maintain healthy bones, muscles and joints. Not only will it improve physical mobility and mental wellbeing but it can improve metabolic health and aid weight loss. Climbing a flight of 10 steps is equivalent to around 35 steps on level ground and can burn around 2-5 calories.

USE A PEDOMETER OR FITNESS APP: Studies have shown that those who track their steps with a pedometer are more likely to increase their physical activity. Keeping track of your steps, heart rate and blood pressure not only helps you identify physical activity but also enables you to set targets and goals to reach.

HEALTHIER SNACKING: Snacking in itself is not unhealthy - as long as the nibbles are nutritious and eaten at the right time. Poor-quality food can leave you feeling hungrier and increase BMI. Healthy, nutritious snacks can not only taste good but can help maintain productivity and minimise the risk of mental burnout.

PARK AND WALK: Walking is a great form of cardio exercise which doesn’t require sweating it out at the gym. Walking briskly (3 mph+) for 10 -15 minutes a day will lower your risk of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and cholesterol. Why not park the car a short distance away from your work and get those extra steps in?
